...hello?

hi,
my name is titan.
i am new to this computer stuff, so please be patient with me.
like eddie before me, i am a foster dog living at camp bow wow.
i was rescued from an animal shelter by a no-kill animal sanctuary called every creature counts.
their link is over to the right.
i guess i'm kind of shy.
i'm really sweet, but i have a hard time trusting people right away
on account of how some people treated me in the past.
i want to like people, really, i do.
it just takes me a minute to think about it and figure out who is going to be nice to me
and who isn't.
in the past week, i haven't met a single mean person, though.
maybe all the mean people just lived where i used to live and everyone else is nice.
i hope so.
eddie said that this can be fun.
maybe when i get more used to typing with my nose, it will be.
until then, i had better get to bed so i can play more tomorrow.
there's a picture of me included in here somewhere.
one of my camp counselors helped me do that so if it's wrong, it's her fault.
thanks for reading,

Lumps suck

Well, finding a home is temporarily on hold. My camp counselors found a lump on my head and they say it grew a bunch in just a few days. They seemed really worried when they called Every Creature Counts about it. In the past couple of days, I've seen the vet and had some tests done - but they didn't ask me any questions, they just did vet stuff. How can it be a test if there aren't any questions? They didn't even ask me to sit, and I'm really good at that!

Any-hoo, I'm going to be staying at a different Camp Bow Wow for a bit -- they call it DIA, but it's not really the airport, just near there. I miss my old counselors, but the people here are nice, too. There's this other foster dog at Camp Bow Wow - Golden named Titan, he's a min pin, and I'm going to turn the blog over to him. He needs the outlet more than I do. He's a cute little guy, but a bit sensitive so take it easy on him, okay? I'll let you know when I hear how I did on my test. Until then, feel free to visit me at CBW DIA!

Home Sweet Home (maybe!?!)

To quote one of my favorite musical groups: "I'm so excited... and I just can't hide it!" (yeah, I know -- the Pointer Sisters, but if you were even a eighth Pointer, you'd like 'em, too -- and I'm a whole half Pointer, so I like 'em a lot).

Anyway, I didn't want to say anything earlier because I didn't want to jinx anything, and I couldn't write an entry without saying anything, but I think it's safe to say something now, so here goes: I think I have a home!!!

Yes, you heard it here first, folks, I (hopefully) will have a home as of next weekend! I went and visited this past weekend and was on my absolute best behavior, and I guess I must have impressed them, because they want me to stay there forever! I had to come back to camp for just a little while, you know, to say my goodbyes and pack my stuff. That and I guess my new family has to fill out an adoption application and be approved by Every Creature Counts. I have so many people looking out for me! I'm sure they'll be approved, though. I mean, they are so cool! I'll have a mom and a sister. They say I fit in perfectly and my Camp Counselors think they are a good match for me, too.

We had so much fun this weekend. They took me to visit lots of people including the nice lady who will be my Aunt (she has a Chocolate Lab), and the really nice lady who will be my Grandma. We went on lots of walks, and I visited with a friend of theirs who has a dog that I already knew 'cause she comes to camp. We play together a lot when she's here. She's not a Yellow Lab, but she's pretty cool. She likes to wrestle we take turns winning. She'll live real close and since our moms are good friends, I'll get to see her quite a bit. And I think I'll be able to come to camp every once in a while. And I'll be able to keep going to training class only now I'll be going with my new mom and sister instead of with one of my Camp Counselors.

Oh! I'm so excited! I mean, these people are Cool (yup, with a capital C). I'll let you know how things go this week. With any luck, I'll be sleeping in my new home on Friday!

Post-valentine's blues

My new best friend went home yesterday. She let while I was taking a little nap and I didn't get to say goodbye. My Camp Counselor picked us up some heart-shaped biscuits to share on Valentine's Day (very tasty, by the way) and I gave the rest to Bella to take home with her. Once I found out she was gone, I spent most of the rest of the day lying on the bed, missing her.

Today, though, I had a NEW best friend. His name is Stanley and he's a Weimaraner. I don't think I'll be sharing any heart-shaped biscuits with him, but he's a pretty cool guy. We wrestled a bit and hung out. He told me about his first girl friend and I told him about mine and it really made me feel better. He come to camp just for the day sometimes. I didn't realize what a cool guy he was until today, though. I hope he comes back soon.

I'm putting my counselors to work to get some decent photos of all of my friends so I can post them here. They tell me they are working on it and I'll have some to show you all real soon.

Not much of interest today, I guess. I will try to come up with a good story for my next entry. Until then...

Happy Valentine's Day!

They tell me tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I didn't know what that meant, so I Googled it and found lots of interesting information. Nobody seems to know exactly how the tradition got started, but there are lots of different stories. Anyway, as I understand it, folks today give each other presents and are super nice to each other, especially if they really like each other. So, tomorrow, I'm going to ask Bella to be my Valentine.

Bella is a yellow lab who has been staying here with her sister for a few days while her mom and dad are on vacation. She's really nice. We play together a lot and sometimes she even lets me win when we wrestle. I like a lot of the other dogs here, but so far she is my best friend. I asked one of the counselors to pick up something for me to give her. Maybe something pink because she has a pink collar and it looks really pretty on her. Or maybe something to eat (not chocolate, of course, because it's bad for us four-legged kids, or so I'm told -- I think the two-legged types just don't want to share sometimes). I'm really going to miss Bella when she leaves, but hopefully, if we are Valentines, we will keep in touch.

If you don't have a Valentine this year, consider adopting a pet (maybe me!). Dogs, especially, have lots of love to give. Can't say much for cats, though.

Until next time, keep your tail waggin'!

Day 18

Wow! I can't believe I've been at Camp for 18 days! It doesn't seem like it's been that long. Really, it's like a vacation... I'm sure when it's over it will feel like it's gone too fast. I'm also sure I'll be ready for a vacation from my vacation! I'm dog tired, ya'll! I play and play and play and play because it is so much fun and I really like all of the dogs and people here a lot! But, I'll tell ya, when I see that bed it just calls my name. I fall asleep and I dream about going to the dog park, and sometimes about my before family, and sometimes about what my forever family will be like. And then I wake up and see Robynn or Kelly or one of my other camp counselors looking at me and smiling and they talk to each other and ask each other what I was dreaming about (apparently, I twitch a little in my sleep and they think it's cute). I've got these folks wrapped around my finger... they think everything I do is cute! Ahhh... as they say, it's a dog's life!

Enough about my sleeping habits and how adorable I am. How about my playing? How about all of my new friends? I met a guy named Max today - he's a pointer - and we played for a bit. He was pretty cool and his daddy was real nice to me. I think he's coming back later this week. OH! and we had three new kids at camp today. All of them were pretty young. We had a bull dog (he and I wrestled on the bed), a terrier mix (she was nice - I met her last night and she remembered me today. I think she liked feeling like she had someone she knew at camp for her first day), and a new black lab. There were three black labs today... I know how I tell 'em apart, but I wonder how my poor counselors keep them straight. Poor humans with their weak sense of smell... how do they get anything done?

More later - until then, keep waggin'!

Day 10

Wow! It took them 10 days to update the "foster dog" page on the camp web site. I figured I would wait to write until I thought people might read about me. That and it took me almost as long to convince my camp counselors that I should have access to a laptop in my cabin.

Things have been pretty good here at Camp Bow Wow. I get to start training classes on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to it because I LOVE getting treats for doing things I already know. I mean, come on people, Sit and Down? I've been doing that stuff for weeks! Maybe even months! You've seen me on a leash - I HEEL! I'm a good dog! But, hey, you want to feed me Bil-Jac liver treats and tell me how smart and cute I am, I'm not going to stop you.

Oh! There's a picture in my profile now. My camp counselors say they'll take lots more pictures of me for you so you'll have a reason to check back now and then.

I'll write more tomorrow - Keep your tail waggin'!
